This Privacy Policy describes how Smart Remote (“we / us / our”) collects, uses, and protects information from users of Smart Remote mobile applications (iOS, Android) and website smartremote.live (“Service”).

Summary: Your viewing habits are your business, not ours. We don’t collect or store any personally identifiable data—or even non-personal viewing data. We believe in honest, transparent design with no dark practices. If you’d like us to remove any data associated with your use of the app, email us anytime at [email protected].

Information We Collect

  • Device & usage data: When you use the app, we may collect device identifiers (e.g. mobile advertising ID), device model, operating system version, network metadata (local IP address), and app usage analytics. This helps us understand app performance and usage patterns.
  • Analytics data: We use third-party analytics services (e.g. Firebase, and Google Analytics) to measure how the app is used, detect crashes or performance issues, and improve functionality. 
  • Payment information: To facilitate in-app purchases (e.g. one-match ad-free service), we use Apple & Google’s In-App Purchase Systems and also where applicable, integrate a secure third-party payment gateway. For example, we support Razorpay. We do not store full payment credentials; sensitive payment data is handled by the respective payment gateways according to their own privacy and security practices.

We do not collect or store any personally identifiable information (PII) such as name, email, phone number, address, profile pictures, etc., unless you explicitly provide them (e.g. contacting support).

Use of Information

We use collected data only for:

  • Enabling core functionality: connecting to your Smart TV over your local network, remote control operations, ad detection, mute/unmute, volume control.
  • Improving and debugging the app’s performance, stability, and user experience.
  • Analytics and usage statistics to measure and optimize app usage.
  • Processing secure payments and purchase transactions (via payment gateway).

We do not and will not use the data for marketing, advertising profiling, or sell/share it with third parties for advertising.

Cookies, Tracking & Identifiers

Our website and mobile apps may use cookies, local-storage, or similar technologies (e.g. device identifiers) for analytics and functionality (for example, to remember user preferences, version info, and session management).

You may opt out of non-essential cookies or disable analytics tracking using the device settings or in-app controls (if provided).

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain usage logs and analytics data only as long as needed to support app functionality, performance monitoring, and debugging. We do not store personal data by default.
If you wish to have any data deleted (for example, usage logs tied to device identifiers), you may delete your account from within our app and your data will be completely deleted within 3 months of account deletion (3 month data retention is necessary for audit & data integrity purposes). Security Measures

We implement standard security practices to protect data, including encryption in transit (TLS) for any data exchanged with servers/gateways, secure payment integration via a trusted payment provider, and minimizing storage of sensitive data.

Changes to this Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy as needed, for example, when we add new features, comply with legal changes, or integrate new services. The “Last updated” date will reflect the most recent version. We encourage you to check this page periodically.

 

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Smart Remote Live offers digital services that are purchased through the official in-app purchase systems of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

No refund will be issued if:
  • A team fails to reach finals or even playoffs stage
  • The number of matches in a package changes
  • A match is cancelled due to unforeseen reasons
  • Match schedules change
  • Match duration vary
  • Cancellations/Interruptions due to external factors (sociopolitical, economic, environmental, etc.) affect events

Refund requests will only be considered if we (SRL) fail to deliver our service which you have purchased. By making a purchase, users agree to these terms.

Refund Requests

All purchases made within the Smart Remote Live app are processed through the respective app store’s payment system. As a result, refunds are handled directly by the platform where the purchase was made.

If you wish to request a refund, please submit your request through the store from which you purchased the service:

  • Apple App Store purchases: Request refunds through your Apple account purchase history.
  • Google Play Store purchases: Request refunds through your Google Play account purchase history.

Refund approvals, timelines, and eligibility are determined by Apple and Google according to their respective refund policies.

If Your Refund Request Is Rejected

If your refund request has been declined or if you have any questions regarding your purchase, you may raise a query directly within the Smart Remote Live app:

  1. Open the app
  2. Go to Settings → Purchase History
  3. Select the relevant purchase
  4. Tap Get Support

Data & Consent Compliance for iOS and Android

  • As required by Google Play Store, we provide a Privacy Policy URL in the store listing and include the full policy within the app.
  • As required by Apple App Store, we also provide the same Privacy Policy and declare any data collection or third-party SDK usage (e.g. analytics).
  • We disclose use of third-party analytics (Firebase/Google) and payment gateway (Razorpay).
  • We explicitly handle device identifiers, cookies, and tracking technologies, with a clear opt-out and transparency policy.

Copyright & IP Disclaimer

  • Smart Remote does not host, stream, rebroadcast, or provide access to any copyrighted sports content, television channels, or commercial material.
  • The app operates solely as a local-network remote-control utility that automates volume management based on real-time broadcast cues.
  • We do not modify or redistribute any third-party content and do not bypass or interfere with any DRM, licensing, subscription, or platform protections.
  • All trademarks, brand names, logos, and service names mentioned (e.g. Sony, Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Hisense, Fire TV, broadcast networks or sports broadcasters and OTT platforms such as Jio Hotstar, Star Plus, Prime Video, Sony Liv etc.) are the property of their respective owners. Use of such names & logos is solely for reference and does not imply endorsement or affiliation.
  • If you believe any element of the app inadvertently infringes on intellectual property rights, please contact us at: [email protected] and we will review and take prompt action.

  1. Acceptance of Terms
    By downloading, installing, or using Smart Remote (the “App”), or by visiting smartremote.live (the “Website”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and any additional rules, guidelines, or disclaimers provided within the App or Website.
  2. Scope of the App
    Smart Remote provides local-network remote-control and volume/mute automation for Smart TVs, plus optional features like ad-free match purchases, live scores, and live commentary (if offered). We do not host, stream, redistribute, or provide any copyrighted content (videos, sports broadcasts, channels).
  3. Use of Third-Party Services
    Your payments are processed via third-party gateway (e.g. Razorpay). Any payment-related disputes must be directed to the payment provider.

We may also use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services (e.g. Firebase).

  1. License and Intellectual Property Rights
    The name “Smart Remote,” its logo, and all app assets (“App Content”) are owned by us (or our licensors). You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

All trademarks, logos, and names of Smart TV brands or broadcast platforms referenced in app descriptions or marketing materials are property of their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or partnership.

  1. Disclaimer of Warranty
    The App is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, success of ad detection, or compatibility with all Smart TVs.
  2. Limitation of Liability
    Under no circumstances shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the App — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or service interruptions.
  3. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
    These Terms shall be governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from or related to the App or Website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.
  4. Modification of Terms
    We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App or Website after such changes means you accept the new Terms.
