TV Connection & Compatibility Guide

Detailed guidance for resolving TV pairing, network, and compatibility problems.

Quick Summary

Smart Remote Live connects your phone to your Smart TV over your home Wi-Fi and uses built-in local network controls supported by most modern TVs. Depending on your TV model, you may be asked to allow remote access, enter a PIN, or provide a Sony Pre-Shared Key (PSK).

Important: TV command features activate only for supported programs listed inside the app.

How Smart Remote Live Finds Your TV

  • Automatically discovers TVs on the same Wi-Fi
  • May ask you to confirm pairing on the TV
  • Some Sony TVs require a Pre-Shared Key (PSK)
  • If discovery fails, the app suggests simple troubleshooting steps

You may need to enter IP addresses manually as the last fallback option.

Before You Start

  • Phone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network
  • If router has 2.4GHz & 5GHz, connect both devices to the same band
  • Disable VPNs
  • Avoid Guest Wi-Fi networks
  • Turn TV ON (not standby)
  • Keep TV remote handy

Why same band matters: Some routers isolate 2.4GHz and 5GHz traffic.
